Dešinysis Mūšos intakas. Teka Vidurio žemumoje, nuolydis nedidelis, tėkmė rami. Baseino plotas nedidelis, todėl nuotėkis per metus smarkiai svyruoja. Sausmečiais upė smarkiai nusenka, vaga užželia vandens augmenija. Dalis Lėvens nuotėkio nukreipiama į Nevėžį Sanžilės kanalu. Todėl upė tinkama plaukti tik nuo Kupiškio, kai vanduo pakyla. Pagrindinės Lėvens kliūtys: išgriautų užtvankų slenksčiai, seklumos, vandens augmenija. Upės slėnis lėkštas, pakrantėse miškų mažai.
