About kayaking on Širvinta:
Tai didžiausias Šventosios intakas. Jo žemupio 24 km atkarpa nuo Liukonių atitinka sunkaus maršruto reikalavimus (vid. 1,32 m/km). Šioje upės dalyje yra nemažai akmenuotų sraunių rėvų, slenksčių. Slėnis siauras, apaugęs medžiais.
Aukščiau upės tėkmė negreita, kliūčių mažai. Aukštupyje yra ruožas su gan dideliu nuolydžiu (tarp 128 ir 108 km nuolydis siekia 2,67 m/km).
Kelionę galima pradėti žemiau Motiejūnų HE (91 km) arba Širvintų–Giedraičių kelio tilto. Nors upės intakai ežeringi, tačiau sausmečiais ji smarkiai nusenka. Keliauti Širvinta geriausia pavasarį arba lietingu vasaros metu. Aukštupio nuotėkio svyravimams įtakos turi Motiejūnų HE.
