Prasideda Žemaičių aukštumos vakariniame šlaite, 9 km į šiaurės vakarus nuo Rietavo, Jankaičių kaimo teritorijoje. Teka į rytus, pasuka į pietus, pietryčius pro Rietavą, Kvėdarną, Pajūrį, Tauragę. Netoli nuo Šereitlaukio įteka į Nemuną (81 km nuo Nemuno žiočių). Upės nuolydis 0,8 m/km. Debitas ties Pajūriu siekia 11,5 m³/s. Jūros upės vagos plotis siekia 15 – 20 m, gylis – 0,1 – 3 metrai. Atodangų aukštis iki 25 m. Dviejose vietose patvenkta.
